Carol rides up the 401 Trail north of Crested Butte. As it turned out, it took four or five days until our sea-level blood got accustomed to the high elevations - the 401 Trail tops out at timberline, around 11,500 feet. The lower-elevation rides in the area were around 9,000+ feet.
